Why do I get an error message: "Cannot connect to the Citrix MetaFrame server. An I/O error occurred while your request was being processed."

If you're connecting through a service provider other than IU, you will need to connect to the IU VPN to be able to successfully launch FIS from home. The way you set the VPN connection up depends on what kind of operating system you have, but you can find links to the instructions for various operating systems in this Knowledge Base article: http://kb.iu.edu/data/ajrq.html
If you have difficulties establishing the VPN connection on your machine, you can contact the UITS support center (855-6789) and they can help you through the process.
