Please explain the use of the fiscal period code in running reports in the FDRS (Financial Data Retrieval System).

The fiscal period code is used to designate the fiscal period (month) in which a
transaction occurred. Indiana University's financial system includes the use of thirteen
fiscal periods. Since our fiscal year runs from July 1 through June 30, fiscal period 01
is the month of July, 02 is August, 03 is September, and so on. Period 13 is the year end
closing period in which the financial business for the fiscal year is finalized, and the
books are closed.
As you use fiscal period code fields in the IUIE, be sure to include a leading zero for
periods 1 through 9 (e.g., 01, 02, etc.). Failure to do so will result in a report with
incorrect data, or in most cases, no data at all. However, using the fiscal period code
correctly will provide information on transactions that occurred during the fiscal period
specified in your query.
